Pasque comes from the pasqueflower, the state flower of my home state of South Dakota. This prairie flower emerges in the springtime – a reminder that beauty and growth can emerge from the dark months of winter. More pointedly, as a neighbor stated: pasqueflowers literally emerge from ice and snow.
